6° Family Day - a fun(d)raising success!

It was a great day for all of us, on behalf of the women in Chitwan, we Thank You!

Our first public fundraiser was held on a sunny Saturday in September at the strandpaviljoen De Kwartel, The Hague.

The event was inaugurated  by our toe-reader Marijke van der Vloed, who performed a simple Nepalese blessing ceremony to ensure that the day would be a success.

And so it was! The day was filled with sunshine, laughter, a relaxed atmosphere and many guests who so generously donated to our beautiful cause. Around 200 family, friends and passerbys joined in the festivities  to support us.

There was a lot of interest for our foundation and many were inspired by our mission to not only train women with a particular skill set but also help them find employment, support and monitor their journey and the "pay it forward" concept.

The most popular activities for the day were surfing, beach-biking, massages and toe-reading. The children enjoyed surfing, beach-biking and were excited with the pull-a-present wall the most.

The auction managed to attract a large crowd - 9 items were generously donated by some of our sponsors with auction master Arjen Nauta weaving his magic to ensure that the audience was both entertained and bid generously for the different items. The most sought after items were the RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) trip, jewellery set and the Nepal team football shirt.

It was a great day for all of us and on behalf of the women in Chitwan, Nepal we Thank You! Special thanks goes to Sabrina van der Vloed of strandpaviljoen De Kwartel for so generously providing us with the venue for our event.

We raised EUR 7,955 (including online donations) which allows us to sponsor 13 women for the wildlife guide training. But our work is not done yet! We want to reach our target and raise EUR 9,000 to provide training to 15 women in total. We still need to raise an additional EUR 1,045 so that we can commence  the program. So please spread the word to family and friends who may not have been able to attend our event and ask them to join the 6° family and donate online.

Don’t you want to make a difference and change someone's life? Please help by donating today.

With our first event being such a success for our foundation and our supporters, we have decided to make this our annual event. So save the date for Friday, 19 July 2019 in your diaries as the second 6° Beach Day Fundraising event.
