ABOUT THE PROJECT
Let Me Bee 🐝
Nepal faces a supply gap in honey production, with annual demand exceeding 8,000 metric tons while domestic output is only about 5,600 metric tons. With high potential for beekeeping and growing interest of women in income-generating activities, we initiated a bee farming project led by our local partner Jhuwani Community Library in Chitwan aiming to foster women’s financial independence and entrepreneurship. Besides providing the women with beekeeping training, we will also facilitate in the production and sales of honey, beeswax and related products.
Project Status
SEPTEMBER 2026
Our local partner has selected 16 candidates based on in-depth interviews and commitment of the women to invest in 10 beehives themselves. The official kick off of the project will be mid September 2026.
Funding
6 Degrees will fund this project and will start a fundraising campaign shortly to sponsor 100 beehives for the women.
Objectives
Train 16 women in beekeeping practices with modern techniques
Support the establishment of 16 beekeeping farms
Facilitate the production and sales of honey, beewax and related products
Provide mentorship and access to markets
Raise community awareness about honey’s health benefits and women’s roles in sustainability
